News of global forest fires has become an increasingly pressing topic, with alarming environmental impacts. Forest fires not only cause damage to ecosystems, but also affect human health and trigger climate change. Forest fires occur in various parts of the world, including the Amazon, Australia and Indonesia. In the Amazon, for example, fires that occurred in 2020 resulted in the loss of millions of hectares of forest that functions as the world’s lungs. Law enforcement efforts are often hindered by larger economic interests, adding to the complexity of the problem. When forest fires occur, the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere is much higher than the gas absorbed by the remaining trees. This adds to the greenhouse effect and triggers climate change. Globally, forest fires are responsible for around 10-15% of greenhouse gas emissions, showing how important sustainable forest management is. Climate change caused by forest fires can also lead to extreme weather patterns, including floods and droughts. This phenomenon worsens global food security and increases its vulnerability to food crises. Global warming also has an impact on marine ecosystems, which disrupts the balance of these ecosystems. Overcoming forest fires requires global cooperation. The use of monitoring technology, such as satellites, can help detect fire hotspots earlier, so that extinguishing efforts can be carried out more efficiently.
